Why Vehicle Carrying Anthony Joshua Crashed –FRSC
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command, says the road crash involving the Nigerian-British boxer, Anthony Joshua, on Monday, was caused by speeding and wrongful overtaking on the part of the driver.
Spokesperson of the command, Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed this in a statement made available to Daily Trust.
Daily Trust had reported that Joshua, was involved in a road accident which claimed two lives along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, on Monday.
Our correspondent gathered that the vehicle carrying Joshua, a Lexus SUV marked KRD 850 HN, reportedly collided with a stationary truck along the highway.
Odunsi in a statement explained that the accident happened around 12pm in front of Sinoma, before Danco, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
According to him, the accident was caused by excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking by the driver who overtook from the right hand side, thereby ramming into a stationary vehicle.
The FRSC publicist said five people were involved in the crash with two deaths, one injured, while two others were unhurt.
He disclosed that the boxer who sustained an injury had been taken to an undisclosed hospital by the security operatives attached to him.
The statement read, “An Auto crash occured today 29h December 2025 involving two vehicles along Lagos-Ibadan expressway at SINOMA. Sagamu unit of FRSC Rescue team where at the scene as soon as they were informed. Five people were involved, one was injured, two were unhurt while two were killed in the crash.
“However, it was discovered that Anthony Joshua (international voxer) was involved but he only sustained an injury, and was taken to an undisclosed hospital by the security officers attached to him.

The bodies of the two killed have since been taken to the morgue. Obstructions have been cleared.
“The causes of the crash were overspeeding and wrongful overtaking by the drive who overtook from the right hand side thereby ramming into a stationary vehicle.”
Daily Trust reports that Joshua hails from Sagamu in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
