Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba has opened up about the isolation he faced during his 18-month suspension from football, revealing that many people turned their backs on him during that difficult time.

Pogba received the ban for a doping violation while playing for Juventus, after which the club terminated his contract, leaving him without a team until the suspension elapsed.

In an interview with the UK’s Daily Mail, the 32-year-old shared how the period took a toll on him emotionally, praising his wife for being his pillar of strength.

“People were avoiding me and my wife. She was the one who kept encouraging me through it all,” Pogba said.

“My phone stopped buzzing—no more calls, no invites. But my wife stayed strong, supporting me while we also had the responsibility of raising our kids.”
