Tinubu Sacks CDS, Army, Air, and Naval Chiefs; Appoints New Service Chiefs in Major Military Shake-Up

President Bola Tinubu has approved sweeping changes in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, naming new Service Chiefs as part of efforts to reinforce the nation’s security framework.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the President appointed General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa.

Other new appointees include Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, will continue in his role.
