Following the demand for the extension of his London vacation by President Buhari, .. First, it was the picture of Ahmed Bola Tinubu; former Lagos state governor and the acclaimed national leader of the All Progressive Congress-APC and Bisi Akande; chieftain of the APC..
Although there were reports by Lagos Herald in which Tinubu dismissed the picture as false. He was reportedly in Nigeria, precisely in Ibadan as of the time it was reported that he traveled to London. He expressed shock, according to the report that he saw himself and Akande with Buhari in London. While the argument is still ongoing, the Senate President; Bukola Saraki and Speaker of House of Representatives; Yakubu Dogara, announced their travel to London to visit President Buhari.
Some pictures of Senator Saraki and Hon. Dogara which have since been in circulation is constantly under critical assessment by many Nigerians, especially the social media community. Many people insist that Buhari should talk to Nigerians. They believe that the pictures being released are either old pictures or photoshopped pictures.
Few days after President Buhari traveled to London for his vacation, it was rumoured that the President had died from undisclosed sickness in London. The President’s media team responded that the president had only gone for a vacation and denied that he was even sick. However, the rumour of the President’s death keep gathering momentum and till now, many people still believe that something has gone awfully wrong with the President’s health.
So far, the only concrete evidence of the President’s well-being remains the call between him and the President of United States; Donald Trump. It is apparently difficult to prove there was no call between Presidents Buhari and Trump. In fact, there is evidence the call from the White House Press Secretary in his address, earlier last week.
However, Nigerians have continued to push the narrative that the pictures of Senator Saraki and Hon. Dogara’s visit to President Buhari in London is fake. Many people have resorted to making jest of the pictures by featuring other people in the originally released pictures, to make the point that anybody could be in any picture with anyone at any time, in this age.
In any case, a few points stand out. First, the President’s media team lied from the beginning. Secondly, they failed to manage the situation properly. In truth, there is nothing wrong for the people to demand to know the whereabout of their elected leader. It is difficult to fathom the purpose behind playing games with someone’s illness. First of all, President Buhari is a man which makes him susceptible to sickness. Then for a man of over 70 years, there is nothing shameful or evil about his being sick. It would have really made all the difference if Garba Shehu and Femi Adeshina were honest about the situation from the beginning.

For Nigerians who have suffered years of lies and deceit from politicians/ military rulers, who willfully offer false hope, simple honesty about a situation no matter how difficult it appears, will go a long way in rebuilding the country.
Here are some of the latest pictures of the visit to President Buhari, in London.
