Police foil plans to kidnap residents of El-Rufai Estate in Abuja
Police personnel from the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Command, yesterday, foiled an attempt by bandits to kidnap residents of El-Rufai estate in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.
Sources disclosed that during a shootout that ensued when the Police confronted the bandits, one resident of the estate was caught in the crossfire and was injured.
The kidnappers were said to have attempted to enter the estate about 2a.m., and made moves to abduct some of the residents before the operatives of the FCT police command thwarted their plans in a fierce gun battle that lasted 30 minutes.
Contacted, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, saying following the shoot-out, many of the gunmen escaped with bullet wounds.
She said: “We received a distress call and mobilized operatives, who swiftly repelled the miscreants in a gun duel. Many of them escaped with bullet wounds.
“We are on the trail of the kidnappers, so we urge the general public to report anybody seen with bullet wound to Police.”
