The Meeting of Awka North APGA stakeholders held yesterday at the residence of Chief Chikodi Anara (Igbakaigba) was witnessed by a large turnout out of stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Traditional rulers, President Generals, Former and Serving Political office holders and the roll call had the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North, Hon. Ferdinand Onwuje; SSAs; four SAs; almost all the ward chairmen with their secretaries and women leaders, and youth leaders; Education Secretary; the “appointed” APGA House of Assembly “Candidate” and several other party leaders across the Local Government Area.
The meeting was convened to harp on the need for a better and progressive Awka North.
The meeting was a very successful one as the need to strive and push for a better Awka North was the main agenda for the day.
Firstly, that Chief Chikodi Anara (Igbakaigba) never for once arrogated to himself the position of LEADER as been erroneously presented by mischief makers; it was the Local Government party chairman, Mr. Uzoma Mbonu who led APGA party faithfuls and stakeholders to his (Anara) house and pleaded with him to offer leadership to the party in the LGA, and that it wasn’t just about his position as the number one political office holder from the LGA but they have observed that he has the capacity, carriage and good interest of Ndi Awka at heart.
At the said meeting, Mr. Mbonu was very emphatic that as a party in the LGA that they are like orphans and they have been heavily buffeted by those he referred to as slave task masters.
Chief Anara accepted to offer guidance and direction to the party and has since been discharging that duty with utmost equanimity and grandiose successes. Such as resulted in the 21/21 victory of His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike Global) and the 7/7 victory of Chief Victor Umeh (Ohamadike); the facilitation of the placing of Awka North sons in strategic positions and just to mention a few: Mr. Lawrence Onwuzuka as TC Chairman of Awka North; SSA’s and SA’s, Education Secretary and until recently the appointment of a new TC Chairman in person of Hon. Ferdinand Onwuje and many others.
And this is quite commendable as it is a departure from the old norm and has seen merit and spread as been the underlying factors for assisting Ndi be anyi politically instead of the usual nepotism and mercantilism (buying and selling of appointments), and this has been attested to by many worthy Awka North sons both home and abroad.
It is also important to note that the former TC Chairman of Awka North, Mr. Onwuzuka (Ukpaka) who was helped greatly to emerge as the TC Chairman and should have allowed the processs of empowering others to continue but due to greed and an untamed ambition wanted to have it all by being the TC Chairman and then transmute self to the State House of Assembly (this was the case of the despotic ruler, late Gen. Sani Abacha). And this is against the principle of equity and natural justice.
We implore Ndi Awka North to imbibe the tradition of respecting our leaders as leadership is a sine qua non for the betterment of any group of people or community. Igbakaigba bu Odogwu Awka-North di ebube
