Oluremi Tinubu urges Nigerians to support National Library project as birthday gift

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to Nigerians to turn their birthday greetings and gifts into contributions toward completing the National Library project.

In a video message ahead of her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025, Mrs. Tinubu said she would forgo a lavish celebration, choosing instead to dedicate the day to God and a cause she described as deeply meaningful.

“I will be turning 65 years old on September 21, which falls on a Sunday. I have decided to dedicate the day to God for His blessings in my life and to mark it quietly,” she stated.

She urged well-wishers to channel their gestures—such as cards, cakes, flowers, and newspaper adverts—into donations for what she called her “best birthday present”: the completion of the National Library.

Her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, also issued a public notice on X, warning against fraudulent accounts. “Please disregard any other account information,” she wrote.
