Okpebholo Orders Edo Cabinet Members to Wear Tinubu-Branded Outfits

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has instructed members of his cabinet to publicly demonstrate their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu by wearing clothing items branded with the president’s insignia.

The directive was issued on Tuesday during the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed commissioners and the inauguration of commissions and boards of agencies in Benin City.

Okpebholo, who credited his electoral success to President Tinubu’s support, emphasized that loyalty to the president must be evident even in appearance. “This could not have happened without a responsible president. We’ve had many elections where the president was not with us, but today we say thank you,” he said. “I will not forgive any commissioner who fails to wear this cap. If you attend an exco meeting without your suit or Asiwaju cap, you will be sent back.”

The governor urged the new commissioners to treat their appointments as an opportunity to serve, not to enrich themselves. He warned that his administration would not tolerate corruption or misuse of office, noting that all nominees were chosen based on merit and confirmed by the State House of Assembly.

He reiterated that his government is focused on “practical governance,” stressing that performance will be judged by visible results and the positive impact of policies on the people.

“Your appointment is not for personal gain but for service, sacrifice, and the betterment of Edo people,” Okpebholo said. “This administration has zero tolerance for corruption. I expect discipline, teamwork, loyalty to the people, and a shared sense of purpose because history will judge us by our actions, not our intentions.”

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
