Nwabali Confident Super Eagles Can Still Qualify for 2026 World Cup

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali remains confident that Nigeria can still book a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the team’s current struggles in the qualifiers.

 

Nigeria, three-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions, sit fourth in their qualification group and face an uphill task to clinch the group’s sole World Cup ticket.

 

With fierce competition and every point vital, coach Eric Chelle’s side must secure maximum results in their remaining matches to stay in the race.

 

Speaking to Brila FM, Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United, admitted the challenges ahead but maintained a positive outlook.

“This is football. Being Nigeria doesn’t mean we’re entitled to win every game,” he said. “We still have plenty of chances to qualify, even with our current position.”

 

He stressed the importance of taking things step by step, adding:

The Super Eagles must now deliver a strong finish if they hope to return to the World Cup stage, having missed out on the 2022 edition.
