Ned Nwoko: My enemies are exploiting Regina’s condition to blackmail me
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has alleged that a group he described as a “pull-down-Ned” syndicate is exploiting the current situation involving his wife, actress Regina Daniels, to damage his reputation.
The lawmaker made the claim following reports of alleged marital issues between him and the Nollywood star.
According to a statement released by his Communication and Technical Action Team and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, Nwoko said certain individuals have long targeted him and are now using the controversy to criminalise him before the international community, describing it as a “coordinated gang-up.”
He dismissed as false allegations that he forcefully acquired land in his hometown, explaining that he was legitimately allocated the land for his University of Sports project, which he said currently benefits the community.
“Unfortunately, those who pursue development in our society are often attacked by their own people. That is the sad difference between us and other ethnic groups,” he stated.
Nwoko further alleged that some persons were taking advantage of “a young woman who is unwell and has admitted to drug use.”
“The facts are clear. Those exploiting her condition to settle old scores will face justice. They should also be cautious with their defamatory statements because they will have to prove them,” he said.
He added that Regina had a history of substance use, which, according to him, could be verified medically or in court.
“The world has read her own accounts of drug use, and her former schoolmates confirmed online that she and her sister dropped out of school because of it. She also admitted being on bipolar medication,” Nwoko claimed.
He described the ongoing allegations against him as “fabricated stories” aimed at destroying his image.
“All these lies amount to criminal defamation. Those behind them will soon have their day in court,” he said.
Addressing the timeline of his marriage to Regina Daniels, Nwoko clarified: “Regina was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married for six years, that means she married at 19, not 17. The public saw her family give her out in marriage, and her mother personally brought her to me.”
He defended his marriage, noting that polygamy is accepted under their customs.

“I married her honorably, gave her my name, and treated her with dignity. Our marriage has always been public and transparent. Beyond the glamour, my life revolved around Regina — I pampered and cared for her deeply, something my associates in Delta, Abuja, and beyond can attest to,” he said.
Nwoko lamented that online critics were exploiting his marriage for political motives.
“It is painful to see my marriage turned into a tool for blackmail. This witch-hunt has gone on for years, all in an attempt to frustrate my efforts and tarnish my image now that I serve as a Senator of the Federal Republic,” he concluded.
