“My kidney, liver, and eyes all have issues” — Daddy Fresh cries out from hospital bed

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod has appealed for financial and moral support for veteran musician Innocent Onyebuchi, popularly known as Daddy Fresh, who is battling a prolonged illness.

Afod shared a video on Instagram showing Daddy Fresh lying in a hospital bed and struggling to recognise him. The singer disclosed that he has been bedridden for over two years due to multiple health complications, including kidney and liver problems, neuropathy, and severe eye issues.

“I have been bedridden for two and a half years now. I started hallucinating — seeing people, both those I know and those I don’t. I talk directly to them, but others don’t see them. My kidney, liver, and eyes all have issues. I’ve operated on one of my eyes, but I can’t see with it anymore,” Daddy Fresh said.

The veteran musician also revealed that he is in a dire financial situation, facing eviction from his home and in need of urgent blood transfusions.
“I have only a few days left in my house because of rent. I’ve been given a quit notice. I don’t even know where to go next. I’m thinking of selling the few things I have, even my television, just to survive,” he lamented.

In his emotional appeal, Afod urged Nigerians and the entertainment industry to rally around Daddy Fresh and assist him in any way possible.
“This is Daddy Fresh — a talented and handsome man with a beautiful voice. He was a fantastic artiste. He has been down with sickness for over three years. I just found out and decided to visit him in the hospital,” Afod said.

“I’m here to beg Nigerians, the entertainment industry, and everyone who remembers Daddy Fresh to please help. He shouldn’t be forgotten. We need your support to keep him alive. I met him in a very bad condition, and he needs us now more than ever,” he added.
