Many trapped including children as two-storey building collapses in Lagos
Several people, including children, have been trapped after a two-storey building collapsed in Lagos State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, October 27, 2025, at No. 54, Cole Street, Cemetery Bus Stop, near UBA Bank, Oyingbo.
According to a situation report from the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, emergency teams from the Sari-Iganmu Fire Station were dispatched to the scene shortly after receiving a distress call around 12:20 a.m.
So far, 15 people — seven men, four women, and four children — have been rescued with varying degrees of injury and taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Meta, and the General Hospital, Odan, for treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate that the building had previously been marked as distressed but continued to be occupied
