Like El-Rufai, Peter Obi Joins TikTok

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has opened a TikTok page, days after former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai joined the platform.
Obi announced his arrival on TikTok via his X handle on Tuesday, saying, “This is my official and only TikTok page. Kindly join me towards building a new Nigeria that is possible.”
The former Anambra State governor uploaded a video seeking followership, aligning with his vision of a “new Nigeria that is possible.”
El-Rufai, on the other hand, opened his TikTok page last Wednesday, using it to engage with Nigerians on politics and his new party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
“This is my only and official TikTok page,” he said in his announcement video. “Please join me for videos, comments, and conversations on Nigerian politics, as well as the activities of our new party, Social Democratic Party (SDP). Welcome on board.”
El-Rufai’s account quickly gained traction, surpassing 200,000 followers within 24 hours. His TikTok bio describes him as an “accidental public servant, certified ruffler of feathers, and deliberate SDP member.”
His move to TikTok follows his exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
