Kylian Mbappé Hospitalised at Club World Cup, Tournament Participation Uncertain

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has been hospitalised due to illness, casting doubt on his availability for the remainder of the Club World Cup.
Mbappé was absent from Real Madrid’s opening game on Wednesday, and the club confirmed on Thursday that he has been admitted to the hospital with a severe case of gastroenteritis—a stomach infection marked by vomiting and diarrhoea.
A statement from the club read:
“Our player Kylian Mbappé is suffering from an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been admitted to hospital to undergo medical tests and receive appropriate treatment.”
Following Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal, head coach Xabi Alonso addressed the situation, saying it was too early to confirm whether the forward would return in time for their second group-stage match.
“We’ll have to see how he feels. He’s been battling a strong viral infection, so we’ll assess his condition closer to the game,” Alonso said.
Real Madrid is set to face Mexico’s Pachuca in their next match, with hopes of bouncing back from their sluggish start. They will wrap up the group stage against Red Bull Salzburg on June 26.
