JUST IN: Portable Released On Bail After Arrest Over N14Million G-Wagon Debt
Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released on bail by the Lagos State Police Command.
SaharaReporters had reported how the police arrested Portable on Tuesday in the Abule Egba area of the state for refusing to pay the N14 million balance of a Mercedes G-Wagon vehicle he bought from a car dealer.
It was gathered that Portable reportedly paid N13 million for the SUV worth N27 million and refused to pay the car dealer the N14 million balance.
After futile efforts to get the balance from the singer, the car dealer complained to the police and Portable was subsequently arrested.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest to SaharaReporters on Tuesday evening, saying, “I can confirm that. He was arrested for the failure to pay the debt he owed, that is his G-Wagon. He deliberately refused to pay the balance. And that is up to N14 million.”
Also, in a viral video that has been making the rounds on social media, the singer was seen to have scaled a gate after policemen approached him with an arrest warrant.
Another viral video shows how the singer was dragged, handcuffed and forcibly put inside a waiting vehicle by policemen.
SaharaReporters had also reported that a contractual agreement between Portable and the car dealer, Ogunsanwo Temitope (Temmy Autos) revealed that the singer was supposed to have paid N27 million for his Mercedes Benz GLE 350 since February 2024.
