JUST IN: INEC recognises David Mark-led ADC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

INEC also acknowledged other interim national officers of the opposition party. Mark assumed the position of interim National Chairman in July during a ceremony at the Yar’Adua Conference Centre in Abuja, following the resignation of former Chairman Ralph Nwosu.

The Commission has since published on its website the names of David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola and Dr. Mani Ibrahim as National Chairman, National Secretary and National Treasurer, respectively.

Also listed as national officers are Akibu Dalhatu, National Financial Secretary, and Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, National Legal Adviser.

This recognition effectively resolves the leadership dispute that had plagued the party. Tribune Online gathered that in a letter dated July 29, 2025, addressed to INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, former Chairman Ralph Nwosu communicated the resolutions of the ADC National Executive Committee meeting held the same day. The NEC had resolved to assume the powers and functions of the National Convention until the next convention is convened.
