Even after Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire under Emperor Constantine around 336 AD, December 25 was chosen to unite believers and give a single date for the celebrations. In Nigeria, many churches today still focus more on concerts, donations, and Christmas programs than reflecting on the actual birth of Jesus. Some pastors quietly admit that December 25 is symbolic, not literal.

So the next time you dey celebrate Christmas, remember: the date no be historical fact, na tradition wey has evolved over centuries. But the love, joy, and reflection that come with it? That one still dey important.
