It’s an honour to serve in the Nigerian Military – Defence Headquarters posts hours after Wike’s clash with soldiers
The Defence Headquarters has shared a notable message on its social media pages, just hours after an altercation between its officers and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The incident occurred when Wike visited a property in the Gaduwa district of Abuja to halt an ongoing building project. According to the minister, the land—reportedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff—was being developed without proper documentation. He ordered the builders to stop work, but military officers at the scene, said to be acting on “orders from above,” prevented him and his team from enforcing the directive.
Visibly angered, Wike told one of the officers to “shut up,” calling him a fool. The officer replied, “I am not a fool and I will not shut up. I am acting on orders.”
Hours later, the Defence Headquarters shared a post stating, “It is an honour to serve in the Nigerian Military,” a message that has drawn public attention in the wake of the confrontation.
