Hours after celebrating his birthday, 29-year-old Nigerian footballer slumps during finals

Clement Oluyide, a 29-year-old Nigerian footballer has slumped during the final tournament in memory of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke

Oluyide, died on the evening of Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Osogbo, Osun State.

It was gathered that the football match was organised by Bamidele Salaam, the lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State at the House of Representatives.

The match, Politics Nigeria gathered was organised in memory of the late brother of the Osun state governor Ademola Adeleke.

Oluyide was said to have slumped and died shortly after he celebrated his 29th birthday with friends and well-wishers earlier in the day.

The competition took place at the Ataoja School of Science football.

Confirming the footballer’s death, the spokesperson for the police in Osun, Yemisi Opalola said Oluyide was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.

According to Opalola, the body of the deceased has been deposited in a morgue in the state.
