FG Introduces Tuition-Free Training for Technical School Teachers

The Federal Government has launched a tuition-free training initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of technical education in the country. The 2025/2026 Technical Teachers Training Programme (TTTP), announced by the Federal Ministry of Education, is a one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) designed to equip secondary school teachers in technical and vocational fields with modern pedagogical skills and align them with current industry standards.
Unveiled by the Department of Technology and Science Education in Abuja, the programme reflects the government’s renewed commitment to strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria. It is expected to better prepare students for the demands of 21st-century industries and improve the nation’s global workforce competitiveness.
The ministry stated that the TTTP application portal will open from July 8 to July 21, 2025. Eligible applicants must be currently teaching technical or vocational subjects in public secondary technical schools or colleges and have at least five years remaining before retirement.
The PGDE programme covers various disciplines, including Technical and Vocational Education, Building Technology, Business Education, Home Economics & Hospitality, Agricultural Education, Automobile, Computer Science, and Electrical/Electronics Education.
The pilot phase will be delivered in collaboration with six universities:
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
University of Nigeria, Nsukka
Federal University of Technology, Minna

Interested teachers are encouraged to apply through the Ministry’s official website at education.gov.ng, by following the TTTP link or directly via this application form.
The Ministry cautioned that submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
