Elon Musk reclaims world’s richest title with $423bn net worth – Report

Forbes has published its latest global billionaire rankings as of June 1, 2025, with Elon Musk once again taking the lead as the world’s wealthiest individual.

The Tesla, SpaceX, xAI, and X CEO now boasts an estimated net worth of $423 billion, after gaining a staggering $36 billion in May alone. This surge was largely fueled by a 23% jump in Tesla’s stock, following announcements of an upcoming robotaxi launch and Musk’s exit from a prominent government advisory role—moves Forbes said “further cemented Musk’s position as the world’s richest person by a wide margin.”

Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) climbed to second place with a net worth of $224 billion, propelled by an 18% rise in Meta shares. He surpassed Jeff Bezos, who now holds third place at $220 billion, after seeing an $19 billion gain fueled by an 11% boost in Amazon’s stock.

Larry Ellison of Oracle maintained fourth place with $206 billion, while investment legend Warren Buffett is in fifth with $158 billion—despite a $9 billion drop in his fortune following his announcement to step down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, which led to a 5% dip in the company’s stock.

In sixth place is Bernard Arnault (LVMH), whose net worth dropped slightly to $144 billion after a 2% decline in LVMH shares.

Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin take the seventh and eighth spots with net worths of $142 billion and $136 billion, respectively.

Steve Ballmer, former Microsoft CEO and current LA Clippers owner, climbed to ninth with $133 billion, benefiting from a 16% rise in Microsoft stock, which added $15 billion to his wealth.

Rounding out the top 10 is Amancio Ortega, the Spanish billionaire behind Zara and Inditex, with $124 billion, a modest increase of $600 million due to relatively flat Inditex performance.

Forbes noted that tech billionaires saw significant gains in May, as markets rebounded from April’s downturn. The Nasdaq rose 10%, and the S&P 500 climbed 6%, boosted by strong corporate earnings, easing trade tensions, and renewed U.S. consumer confidence.

As of June 2025, the combined wealth of the top 10 richest individuals stands at an astounding $1.9 trillion, up $140 billion in just one month.
