EFCC interrogates Mele Kyari over refinery funds probe

Former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Daily Trust has gathered.

 

Kyari, who had previously been placed on the commission’s watchlist, arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

 

According to sources, he is expected to answer questions concerning funds allocated for refinery maintenance during his tenure as NNPCL boss.

“Yes, he is here with us. He will soon face interrogation by a team of our top investigators,” a senior EFCC official confirmed to Daily Trust.

It will be recalled that a Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier ordered the freezing of all bank accounts linked to Kyari following an EFCC request.
