Dangote, Otedola Escort Dantata’s Remains to Madinah for Burial

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, alongside his friend, billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, on Tuesday accompanied the remains of his late uncle, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, from Abu Dhabi, UAE to Madinah, Saudi Arabia for burial.
In a video shared on X (formerly twitter) by Sanusi Dantata, it was revealed that the late elder statesman would be laid to rest at the Baqiyya Cemetery following the Asr (afternoon) prayer.
A footage captured Dangote and Otedola, joined by Arab associates and other dignitaries, attending the burial rites. Sanusi noted that the Janazah (funeral) prayer would take place at the Prophet Muhammad’s Mosque.
“Aliko Dangote personally accompanied the remains of his great-uncle, the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, from Abu Dhabi to Madinah. He will be buried at the Baqiyya Cemetery after Asr prayer (approximately 1:30 pm, Nigerian time),” he wrote.
“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant safe return to all family members, friends, and well-wishers who travelled to attend the Janazah in Saudi Arabia.”
Alhaji Aminu Dantata passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi at the age of 94. His death was confirmed by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Junaid, via a Facebook post.
In accordance with his wishes, the business mogul will be buried in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, a funeral prayer in absentia have been held in his honour at the Umar bin Khattab Mosque, located along Zaria Road in the Gyadi-Gyadi area of Kano State.

Beyond his legacy as a successful businessman, Dantata also served as Commissioner for Planning and Development in the former Kano State and held other notable public roles.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Northern Governors’ Forum, and several other prominent Nigerians have expressed condolences over his passing.
