Carlo Ancelotti to leave Real Madrid after UCL defeat to Arsenal

Carlo Ancelotti, the Real Madrid boss, is expected to depart from the club following Real Madrid’s elimination from the Champions League quarter-final by Arsenal.

Real Madrid lost 2-1 at home on Wednesday, resulting in a 5-1 aggregate defeat, which has raised doubts about Ancelotti’s position as head coach.

The 65-year-old is expected to leave the club after the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona in Seville, but will remain in place until then.

Barcelona leads Ancelotti’s side by four points in the league with seven games remaining, as both teams compete for the domestic double.

According to Sky Sports News, Carlo Ancelotti is anticipated to depart from the club after the Copa del Rey final on April 26th.

The Italian is not expected to be in charge when the pair meet for the El Clasico game in Barcelona on May 11.

Speaking about his future at Real Madrid, Ancelotti said, “Maybe the club decides to replace me and maybe it could be this year, or next year, when my contract is over.

“But when I am done here, I will be grateful to this club. That could be tomorrow, 10 days, one month or in one year, but if my contract ends or doesn’t end, I really don’t care.

“We have managed the bright side many times and we have won titles, but we need to manage the dark side too. We need to accept it because over the two games, Arsenal have been better than us.”

Carlo Ancelotti rejoined Real Madrid in 2021, subsequently winning 11 trophies, including two Club World Cups, two LaLiga titles, and two Champions League titles.
