BREAKING: Tinubu Meets Newly Appointed Service Chiefs at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, held a meeting with the newly appointed service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The military leaders arrived at the Villa’s forecourt around 4 p.m. in a black Mercedes van, escorted by a green Toyota Land Cruiser.

Those present included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj-Gen E.A.P. Undiendeye.

Tinubu had earlier, on Friday, October 24, 2025, made sweeping changes within the military hierarchy “in furtherance of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the national security architecture,” according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.

Dare announced that General Olufemi Oluyede replaced General Christopher Musa as the new Chief of Defence Staff, while Major-General W. Shaibu, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas were appointed Chiefs of Army, Air, and Naval Staff respectively. Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retained his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The President, who commended the outgoing service chiefs for their patriotic service and leadership, urged the new appointees to justify the trust placed in them by promoting professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces.
