BREAKING: Police Arrest Sowore at Federal High Court

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, was on Thursday arrested at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Sowore, who recently led the #FreeNnamdiKanuProtest in the capital, was apprehended shortly after attending Nnamdi Kanu’s trial. The activist had previously escaped arrest during Monday’s protest when police detained 13 others, including Kanu’s lawyer and brother.
Before his arrest, Sowore had posted on social media that Kanu’s lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), informed him of plans by the defence team to withdraw from the case, describing the situation as “completely political.”
Eyewitnesses said police officers approached Sowore outside the courtroom and requested he accompany them to the station. After a brief exchange, he complied.
An associate of Sowore confirmed the arrest, revealing that the FCT Commissioner of Police had earlier invited the activist, adding, “He was going to honour the invitation. I don’t understand why they were in such a hurry.”
