BREAKING: FG Suspends NERD Clearance for Batch ‘C’ Corp Members Registration

The Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) has issued a clarification on the enforcement of the Federal Government’s NERD Compliance Directive, assuring graduating students under the 2025 Batch C National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation will not be affected by the new compliance policy.
In a public statement signed by Richard Falaye, Secretary to the Governing Council of NERD, the agency congratulated all graduating students from Nigeria’s universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, noting their vital role in national development.

The statement explained that following a series of consultative meetings with the NYSC and relevant agencies, the government agreed to relax the new NERD compliance measures for students under the 2025 Batch C mobilisation. This category of students, it said, falls within the transitional period, as their mobilisation process had begun before the policy’s enforcement date of October 6, 2025.

“These graduates shall not be disadvantaged by the new enforcement phase,” the statement read.
According to NERD, the mandatory compliance will take full effect for students preparing for NYSC mobilisation from January/February 2026 batches onwards, in line with the Federal Executive Council’s approval of the NERD National Policy and the NERD Declaration of Effectiveness.
NERD emphasized its collaboration with the NYSC to ensure that all Batch C 2025 students can seamlessly register on the NYSC portal once it reopens, regardless of their institutions’ current submission status.

The clarification, NERD added, applies to all tertiary institutions in Nigeria, ensuring that no student type or category is left out.
To guarantee smooth future mobilisations, institutions are urged to ensure their students enroll early on the NERD portal ahead of the 2026 service year. The agency also announced plans to provide staging servers to accommodate late enrollees and those outside the enrolment period.
