BREAKING: Customs Releases Names Of Shortlisted Applicants, Announces Date For CBT

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that 286,697 candidates have been shortlisted to participate in the second phase of its ongoing recruitment exercise.
The exercise, which began with a public advertisement in national newspapers on December 27, 2024, attracted a total of 573,523 applications across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. Out of these, 3,927 vacancies are available to be filled.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, by the Service’s National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, PhD, the next stage of the recruitment will be an online Computer-Based Test (CBT) scheduled for September 14–21, 2025.
“The Service is committed to transparency, accessibility, and fairness in this selection process,” Maiwada said.
Shortlisted candidates are expected to take the test from any location with stable internet access, but only on laptops or desktop computers fitted with a webcam. Mobile phones will not be accepted for the exercise. A facial recognition process will also be carried out during login, hence candidates have been advised to maintain a neat appearance.
The NCS further warned that the CBT software is highly sensitive to background noise and movement, noting that excessive distractions, whispering, or switching between windows may result in automatic logout or disqualification.
To prepare applicants, a mandatory pre-test session will be conducted two days before the main examination, with separate links provided for the trial run and the actual CBT. Candidates in the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also undergo an additional test in a subsequent phase.

Reiterating its commitment to merit-based recruitment, the Service stressed that successful candidates would be notified through official channels only. It cautioned applicants against falling victim to fraudulent individuals or unofficial platforms, adding that the NCS will not request payment at any stage of the process.
