Borno Gov declares Nov 24 day of fasting, prayer over renewed Boko Haram threat

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has declared Monday, November 24, a statewide day of fasting and prayer for peace and stability in the state and across Nigeria.

The announcement was made in a statewide broadcast on Friday, November 22. Zulum, speaking “not just as your governor but as a fellow citizen with deep patriotism,” urged residents to unite in safeguarding peace.

“For 15 years, Borno State has been at the centre of global attention due to the Boko Haram insurgency. It has affected every aspect of our lives, displacing millions and disrupting livelihoods,” he said.

The governor praised the resilience of Borno citizens and their continued support for security agencies.

“With God’s help, we overcame those dark days by standing together, putting aside ethnic, religious and sectional differences. We gave unwavering support to our armed forces and security agencies as they confronted a common enemy determined to destabilise Borno, the Northeast and the nation,” he added.
