Alleged $180,000 marriage scam against me baseless – Ooni of Ife

In recent days, a scandalous allegation has surfaced involving Ms. Fagbule, who claims to have been swindled of $180,000 under the false pretense of a romantic relationship with the revered Ooni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II.

The controversy erupted from a Twitter account under the pseudonym “99% OPPRESSED,” alleging that Ms. Fagbule fell victim to an elaborate scheme orchestrated by impostors posing as the Ooni himself. According to palace officials, this accusation is not only baseless but also malicious, aimed at tarnishing the impeccable reputation of His Imperial Majesty and the palace.

Otunba Moses Olafare, the Director of Media And Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, vehemently denies any association between Ms. Fagbule and Ooni Ogunwusi. “The so-called Mrs. Fagbule has never had any personal or official interaction with the Ooni or the palace,” he clarified in a press statement.

Furthermore, the palace asserts that Ooni Adeyeye does not manage any personal social media accounts, reinforcing that all official communications are handled through a structured media directorate. The purported letter of marriage proposal circulating on social media, allegedly from the Ooni, was swiftly debunked as a fabrication, lacking the palace’s authentic letterhead and grammatical style typical of official correspondences.

In response to the unfolding controversy, the palace invites Ms. Fagbule to come forward and engage directly with law enforcement agencies for a thorough investigation into the alleged fraud. “We encourage her to seek justice through proper channels rather than fueling a media spectacle,” Otunba Moses Olafare emphasized.

The Ooni’s Palace reiterates a cautionary note to the public, advising vigilance against internet scams and reemphasizing that His Imperial Majesty does not engage in online communications or appoint proxies for such purposes. The palace remains committed to upholding its integrity and protecting the public from malicious misinformation.
