ADC will take over Aso Rock, Lagos Govt House in 2027 — Aregbesola

The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has declared that his party is determined to unseat President Bola Tinubu and take control of Lagos State in the 2027 elections.

Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, made the declaration on Saturday during an event in Lagos, where Hon. Moshood Salvador, leader of the Conscience Forum within the Labour Party (LP), officially led his members into the ADC. The occasion also coincided with the 25th anniversary celebration of the Conscience Forum as a political movement.

The event was attended by the ADC’s Lagos leadership, as well as ward and zonal leaders of the Conscience Forum from all 20 local government areas and 37 LCDAs of the state.

In his remarks, Aregbesola applauded the leadership and members of the Conscience Forum while charging them to work diligently toward securing power in Abuja and Lagos in 2027. He expressed confidence that the ADC would produce Nigeria’s next president and urged the new members not to relent in their efforts to drive change.

“I am happy to welcome you into the ADC. With the structure and determination of the Conscience Forum, victory in Lagos and Abuja is certain. It’s a simple strategy—each person mobilises ten others, and those ten do the same. With this operation, we will surely take Aso Rock and produce the next president,” he said.

On his part, Salvador said the internal crises within the Labour Party had shown that it no longer represents the future, hence the decision of his group to join the ADC.

“Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Conscience Forum. While celebrating our past achievements, we must also look forward. Our members in the Labour Party have realised that the party has lost direction and the future. That is why we are aligning with the ADC, which represents a stronger coalition for progress,” Salvador explained.

He added that with over 400,000 members in Lagos, the Conscience Forum is bringing a well-structured base of LGA and ward officers into the ADC, ensuring the coalition is further strengthened.
