Seun Kuti Shares Parenting Philosophy: ‘I Stress My Daughter Before She Stresses Me’

Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has opened up about his unconventional approach to parenting, revealing that he enjoys “stressing” his daughter whenever he’s at home.

Speaking in an interview with NotJustOk Originals on YouTube, Kuti explained that his favorite place is home because it allows him to turn the tables on his child. “Most parents don’t realize their kids stress them because they don’t stress them first,” he said. “Be the stress in your child’s life — that’s my fun thing to do. I stress her so she has no time to stress me.”

The singer added that performing on stage gives him a similar sense of control and satisfaction.

“Other than that, I love being on stage. That’s another space where I have full control, stressing a bunch of people — I take it from the house to the stage,” he joked.
