Festac DPO Dies After Surgery

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of the Divisional Police Officer of Festac Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, Ngbaronye passed away on Friday following a surgical procedure at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.

Describing her death as a great loss, Adebisi said the late officer was known for her discipline, professionalism, and integrity throughout her service.

“The Lagos State Police Command deeply regrets to announce the passing of CSP Matilda Ngbaronye, who died after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre on Friday, October 24, 2025,” the statement read.

“The Command mourns the loss of an upright and dedicated officer whose diligence, discipline, and humane approach to policing helped strengthen the bond between the Police and the public she served.”

Adebisi added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, alongside officers and men of the Command, extended condolences to Ngbaronye’s family, including her husband, aged mother, and elder brother, who is a priest.

She noted that burial arrangements would be announced later, praying for the repose of her soul.
