Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over plans by some opposition governors to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele revealed that governors from Taraba, Zamfara, Enugu, and Kano states are expected to join the APC soon. However, he warned that while a few may genuinely support the president, others would act against him from within the party.
“About four opposition governors will decamp to the APC, including Taraba, Kano, Zamfara, and Enugu. They have an agreement to support the president’s second-term ambition, but not all of them will remain committed,” Ayodele stated.
The cleric explained that some of the defectors are only seeking Tinubu’s blessings to advance their own political ambitions, which could later fuel internal conflicts.
He further cautioned Tinubu to carefully scrutinize the decampees to distinguish loyal allies from hidden enemies, stressing that not all members of the APC are praying for the president’s success.
“The issue of who becomes who will become very serious. The president must properly review them to know those who are enemies because not everyone in the APC wants him to succeed,” he added.
