I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted- Annie Macaulay

Nollywood actress and influencer, Annie Macaulay, has shared a cryptic post on Instagram that many interpret as a reflection on her marital journey and recent separation from music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia.

On Monday, Annie posted a text image that read: “I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start and that no matter what, she always has me in her corner.”

The post quickly gained attention, with fans linking it to the challenges she faced during her marriage.

In May 2025, Annie publicly confirmed her split from 2Baba at the 17th Headies Awards in Atlanta. While co-presenting with Farooq Oreagba, she introduced herself as “Annie Idi…” before correcting to “Annie Macaulay,” followed by a playful shout of “Hey, single ladies!”—a moment that drew applause and was seen as her first open acknowledgment of the separation.

2Baba had earlier announced the end of their marriage in January 2025, closing a chapter many once regarded as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated celebrity unions. The couple, who married in 2013, were together for over a decade and share two daughters.

Their relationship, however, faced constant turbulence. For years, tabloids spotlighted 2Baba’s relationships with Pero Adeniyi and Sunmbo Adeoye, both of whom bore him children. Annie often found herself defending their marriage amid public scrutiny, as 2Baba’s blended family—six children with three women—remained a source of gossip and speculation.
