Ife APC Stakeholders Back Omisore for 2026 Osun Governorship

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ife Federal Constituency have formally endorsed Senator Iyiola Omisore as their preferred candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The endorsement was announced during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on August 5, 2025, at Omisore’s Oduduwa Estate residence in Ile-Ife. The gathering brought together political leaders and party chieftains from the constituency’s four local government areas — Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, and Ife South — including council chairmen, party executives, and current and former lawmakers.

Former Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Bamisayemi, stressed the strategic advantage of zoning the APC ticket to Ife, citing recent defections and shifting political dynamics in Osun East. Hon. Jamiu Olawumi and other speakers described Omisore as the most prepared and electable candidate to challenge the PDP’s anticipated candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke, from Ede.

A motion to adopt Omisore as the APC gubernatorial flagbearer was moved by Hon. Tunji Owojori and seconded by Hon. Muritala from Ife East. Former PDP lawmaker Hon. Abimbola Ajilesoro, who recently joined the APC, also declared his full support for Omisore’s bid. Former Osun State Deputy Governor, Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin, described Omisore’s ambition as timely and assured him of broad political backing.

In response, Senator Omisore officially declared his intention to run, noting that his decision followed extensive consultations and the withdrawal of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola from the race. He pledged to provide purposeful leadership and restore good governance under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

The meeting, attended by 491 stakeholders, ended with a unanimous commitment to support Omisore as the APC’s candidate from Ife in the 2026 governorship election
