Tinubu Celebrates Yahaya Bello at 50, Commends His Role in Youth Empowerment

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello as he marks his 50th birthday.
The congratulatory message was shared on Wednesday via the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Nigerian Presidency, @NGRPresident, highlighting Bello’s pioneering political journey and impact on youth inclusion in governance.
The President praised Bello for making history as the youngest democratically elected governor in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic, lauding his efforts in advancing youth participation in politics and public service.
“As he celebrates this milestone, President Tinubu wishes Alhaji Yahaya Bello continued good health, strength, and personal fulfilment in the years ahead,” the message concluded.
Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo also paid tribute to his predecessor, describing him as a visionary who laid the groundwork for inclusive leadership in the state. Ododo, in a statement issued by his media adviser, Ismail Isah, credited Bello with creating opportunities for young and ordinary citizens to rise into leadership roles.
“Governor Yahaya Bello built a system where everyone had a chance to lead, and I am a product of that legacy,” Ododo stated.
Bello, who governed Kogi from 2016 to 2024, is currently facing legal proceedings with the EFCC over allegations of money laundering, criminal breach of trust, and embezzlement of public funds.
