2027: North-East APC Youths Warn Tinubu Against Replacing Shettima

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Parliament in the North-East has issued a strong warning against speculated plans to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press conference in Bauchi on Friday, the group’s chairman, Kabiru Kobi, described the rumours as dangerous and divisive, stating that any attempt to alter the Tinubu-Shettima ticket would threaten party unity and undermine President Bola Tinubu’s re-election chances.
Kobi emphasized that the growing speculation has unsettled party members and could spark internal rifts that may harm the APC’s electoral fortunes. He urged party leaders to reflect on the past — particularly the PDP’s internal crises that contributed to its loss in 2015 — and avoid repeating similar mistakes.
“The APC Youth Parliament stands firmly behind the Tinubu-Shettima ticket for 2027,” he declared, calling both leaders “tested and trusted.”
Kobi added, “Let it be clearly stated that any move to tamper with the Tinubu-Shettima joint ticket will only breed long-lasting resentment, with consequences that could extend well beyond the elections. History is unforgiving to those who ignore its warnings.”
He warned against internal sabotage, questioning whether the party could withstand “the schemes of fifth columnists” attempting to derail the APC’s progress through divisive narratives.
Addressing President Tinubu directly, Kobi said the attacks on Shettima are, in truth, aimed at the president himself. “The goal is to replace Shettima with someone lacking the political clout and credibility, knowing fully well that the Vice President would respond peacefully and leave you to bear the political consequences. But injustice does not sit well with the people — or with God,” he said.

The group pledged continued mobilization in support of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket and urged party stakeholders to prioritize unity over ambition. Kobi also voiced concern over rising internal tensions, warning they could destabilize the APC if left unchecked.
He concluded by reaffirming the group’s confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, particularly praising his bold economic policies and commitment to national progress.
