17-Year-Old Yobe Student Named World’s Best in English

Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, a 17-year-old student from Yobe State, has emerged as the World Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals, held in London, United Kingdom.
Representing Nigeria through Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Nafisa stood out among more than 20,000 participants from 69 countries, achieving a remarkable milestone that has brought international acclaim to both her state and the country.
TeenEagle is a globally respected competition that evaluates students’ proficiency in English, as well as their critical thinking and communication skills. Participants come from both English-speaking and non-English-speaking nations.
Nafisa’s accomplishment was confirmed by the head of her family, Hassan Salifu, who credited her success to hard work, discipline, and the solid support she received from the Yobe State Government.
“Our daughter’s global achievement would not have been possible without the educational vision of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose support has earned our state and nation international honour,” Salifu told Leadership.
He also noted that Nafisa surpassed contestants from native English-speaking countries—an achievement he said underscores her intelligence and thorough preparation.
